HCES CHAIR

ROGER BABCOCK

Roger Babcock, PhD, PE is a Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering and the Water Resources Research Center at the University of Hawai‘i at Ma–noa. He obtained his PhD. in Civil Engineering from UCLA in 1991. He is the CE Graduate Program Chair and longtime ASCE student chapter faculty advisor. Dr. Babcock conducts research on biological wastewater treatment, on-site wastewater treatment, and stormwater runoff management. Dr. Babcock is the current president of the Hawai‘i Water Environment Association (HWEA), serves on the Board of Certification of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators, and is director of Hawai‘i’s Statewide Wastewater Operator Training Center.

JAY STONE

Jay Stone, P.E. is Bowers + Kubota Consulting’s Chief Engineer. His design expertise includes stormwater treatment and inspections, ecosystem restoration, wastewater collection and treatment, water treatment and supply systems, and drainage improvements. He also has extensive experience in environmental permit processes at federal, state, and county levels as related to waterfront projects. He holds bachelor’s degrees in English and Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and is a licensed civil engineer in Hawai‘i. He is also a board-certified environmental engineer in water supply and wastewater with the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists, Certified Floodplain Manager, Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control, Certified Professional in Storm Water Quality, and LEED Accredited Professional. He is a former instructor with the University of Hawai‘i Outreach Program Water Technology Education Program. A practitioner of aikido since 1988, Mr. Stone teaches children, teenagers, and adults at the Kaonohi Zanshin Aikido dojo. He is also a podcaster on ComicsViews (http://comicsviews.com/), discussing comics, film, and television pop culture.

KRISTEN YOSHIDA

Kristen Yoshida, P.E. is a civil engineer with Bowers + Kubota Consulting. She attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa where she earned a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering. She is the Co-Chair of the HCES EWeek Exhibits Committee as well as the HCES SWE Representative. She is also active volunteering for career development and outreach events with the SWE-Hawaii Collegiate Section.

HCES IMMEDIATE PAST CHAIR

DONNA KISHI

Donna Kishi currently is employed as a thermal specialist sales engineer at Norman S. Wright Mechanical Equipment Company in Waipahu, Hawai‘i. She has been involved in the HVAC industry for 20 years as a manufacturer’s representative in the sales of data center infrastructure equipment. Donna was the owner and president of Power Protection Systems in Waipahu 1991–2015. Previous to 1991, was a health care practitioner for many years. She earned her BS in Nursing from the University of Colorado and MPH from the University of Hawai‘i. She is the immediate past president of the ASHRAE Hawaii Chapter (2015 2016) and is also active in other community non profit service organizations.
